Mr. Horton is a Veteran of the U.S Air Force and the U.S Navy, and have also served as a Pastor for some 50 years. He and his wife (both in their late 70’s), have both served as missionaries in the past. While on a missionary trip, Mrs. Horton contracted an infection in her foot which resulted in a future amputation of the foot and part of her leg. Later on in life, she became a double amputee due to complications from diabetes.
They have adult children that try to help out as much as possible. They are all concerned for their parents’ safety, especially their mother’s as she does not have a way to enter/exit the home on her own if need be—currently all ingress/egress routes have stairs and she’s bound to the wheelchair. Mr. Horton has also had some falls in attempting to help her get out of the home for her frequent doctor’s appointments.
